Dramatic Skies in the Landscape: A Painterly Approach

This class will give you a painterly system or map to capture the light and glow of sunsets and glorious skies. We will begin with thumbnail sketches then do color studies to abstract the composition into simple shapes. When satisfied we will transfer this study to a larger piece for our finished painting then under-paint in pastel using alcohol  to give a cohesive atmosphere and set the mood. We will then finish the painting with expressive mark making  for a painterly finished effect. You may work from my reference or your own using a photo or  IPAD. Students must furnish their own materials and supplies. See supply list below. Please order your supplies early, allowing at least 2 weeks before class to ensure they arrive on time.
