One Day workshop on Trompe l’oeil painting (French for trick of the eye painting) focusing on methods including tonal values to make things appear three dimensional. Trompe l’oeil is an utilitarian method used for centuries to enhance flat surface to have a dimensional quality. Molding, sculptures, cameos are a few examples. Participants will find simple visual deception to be useful and fun.
Painting surfaces will be provided by instructor.
Materials needed:
Oil Paints: titanium white, raw umber, yellow ochre, cadmium red medium, cadmium yellow, and ivory black. This is known as the Zorn Palette (Anders Zorn), this is a simple but effective palette to learn from.
A lining brush and #3, #4, #5, #6, # 7 & #8 flat paint brushes and a #2 round.
