Tricia Mansfield

I have always been a careful observer and curious about the dynamics of nature and the way things work. I grew up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts where I spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoors. Starting in eighth grade and continuing beyond my college years I eagerly participated in natural history and ecology classes. I have an extensive collection of field notebooks that hold records of my nature and wildlife observations. I was fortunate to have opportunities to work on private and academic research teams studying mostly turtles and wetland ecosystems. Throughout these formative years it never occurred to me that I eventually would become an artist, and that these passions of of observation and recording would now be expressed in my paintings. I approach art with the same inquisitiveness and curiosity I had when I was out studying nature. I believe my best paintings are the ones of places and events that I know intimately. While my formal education includes a BA in Sociology Based Human Relations from Connecticut College and a MA in Urban and Environmental Policy from Tufts University, art is the capstone that channels my education and life experiences. I hope you enjoy my work!
