Kelly Reark established her Florida west coast studio in 2002. Her fine art career began with creating works for both offshore and inshore fishing tournaments; chasing tarpon with both her fishing rod and her brush. Kelly’s education at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, included marine biology, further expanding her love for capturing the ecology and details of her subjects. Accurate representation in her field journals evolved into painting a feeling – a memory of an experience with those subjects inspired by fish stories told at the docks after a day on the water. Preserving our wild spaces and historical fishing grounds and practices for future generations became her key objective. Kelly’s storytelling artwork supports sustainability and conservation, with emphasis on appreciation for Florida’s coastal and marine wildlife. Credits include the World’ s Richest Tarpon Tournament art since 2012, the fish sculpture artist for Bonefish and Tarpon Trust since 2015, exhibiting member of the Boca Grande Art Center, and exclusive artist for the Temptation in Boca Grande. Mediums include acrylic on canvas or board, watercolor on cotton paper, acrylic on fiberglass sculpture life-casts of fish and turtles, and silk dye on raw silk.
